Head Coach - James Lavery
Queen’s University Football Club are delighted to announce that James Lavery has been appointed as first team manager for the 2022-23 season. Having spent over 10 year’s at the club as a player and coach, the club are extremely confident that James is the right man to develop the club further on our journey back to senior football.
Club chairman Denis Clarke added:
“I am delighted that James has agreed to become our next manager. He was a prolific marksman for Queen’s, scoring 120 goals in just 5 seasons. As a valued member of Peter Thompson’s coaching staff, he now has a good knowledge of our players and how a University Club works. Our players have a lot of respect for him and are very pleased that he is staying with the Club. We all wish him success in his new role”
Upon his appointment James commented:
“I am honoured to be the new manager of Queens and hugely excited by the challenge ahead. I have been with the club for well over a decade now and have enjoyed every minute. I know what is required to take the club forward, I’m determined to develop a team capable of delivering success and the kind of football we have become known for. I am immensely proud and want to thank the club for their faith in me”
Lavery is further bolstered by the news that a number of key senior players have committed themselves to the club ahead of the new season. The new head coach is keen to strengthen the squad and will be active in the transfer market for student and senior players over the next few weeks.
